Hampton is the campus that prepared him for medical school and the career that followed, which is why this date sat differently in the calendar than the others.
Here is how he put it afterwards, in his own words:
"Coming back as a physician, author, and speaker reminded me why exposure matters. A young man may have talent and ambition, but meeting someone who has walked a path can help him see himself on it."
That is the exposure gap, compressed into two sentences, standing in the room it describes. You cannot chase what you have never seen. A morning among professionals who have walked the path is one of the few things that reliably widens what a young person can picture.
Leadership is more than what you achieve. It is what you make possible for the person coming behind you.
